Not much of an update but considering I was incredibly hungover today and strangely incredibly drunk yesterday...I'm calling it a small triumph! I managed to get the holes marked out and drilled in the pinch seam and welded the 5/16 nuts to the inside of the pinch strip on the armour. It started getting hot and I couldn't be arsed standing in the sun cutting out the passenger side one so I decided to paint the drivers side, so it is now done and ready to fit. I'm going to try and get the passenger side mostly done tomorrow and then I'll drill and fit the nutserts into the sills.

They where going to be satin black but the finish looked too blotchy so I sprayed over with trusty old bed liner! Should look pretty good and it'll match my flares and rear bumper. So much to do,so little time

Thanks mate, it gets dirty easy but very durable! I got the passenger side knocked over today, weathers a bit to ordinary to attempt the paint work so I'll wait for the weekend. At this stage I don't think I'll have enough time to build the rock rails before coff's but at least I've got the rocker armour now. I've still got a tranny cooler to fit and plumb, a new tranny mount to fit, new fan clutch, full fluids change and a thousand oil leaks to fix and Im running out of weekends!

You wouldn't happen to know if there was a certain model or spec of explorer that came with the 4.10 gears?

Yeah, all the research I've done the 4.11 gears was only available in the 'TOW PAC' option untill around 97>98 then discontinued in Aus (not popular) and as all the Exploders were import only so these are very thin on the ground.

The cost of regearing is cheap but as the Toyo's your running are a small 33 you could easily run 3.73's anyway and it be good on the hi way to cruise down to go wheeling with us

The only way to know what your getting is check the diff tag or rotate and count the turns

Thanks for that mate, I figured they would be rare! The hope was to only have to swap in one set of 4.11's into the front during the initial diff swap. I don't know what your version of cheap is but it's at least $350 for a good quality R&P plus a install kit! Then times that by two and suddenly my pockets are a lot emptier! guess I'm going to have to start saving my pocket money won't be so bad if I can pick up the axle cheap. I just found a company that stocks Artec industries products and the shipping is crazy cheap so I've got a truss, Bomb proof leaf perches and shock mounts sitting in my shopping cart now just need to get some other stuff for coffs first.

You'll also need a 3.73:1 & up carrier for D30 if your not fitting a new locker or make sure you order the correct locker for 4.10/4.11 & up.....

Yeah I'm waiting till I've sorted the six before I spend the coin to fit the 4.88's, internal +external truss....the only thing I hate about the 4.88's is the tinny pinion tho when the $$$ are available I'm def fitting RCV axles to handle the extra torque
