Yes Sorry, you are both correct! I do have the fdcm and the motor, my mind was thinking one while typing the other!
What i am referring to was a set of codes in the FDCM which could be read though a scanner which would tell if it had the recall done or not.
Luckily i havent had an issue with mine but just wanted to see if it had been done to this new one as it may prove useful!

BTW: My third N23 fix is still working, however the unaffected FDCM is always with me.........
Who did the most recent update for you? My local dealers service advisor says he knows nothing about any recent updates
Mine is ok at the moment and only failed once in the last year (which is once too many) but i dont have any long term faith.

Well, my July 29 failed a couple of weeks ago. Took it back to Nunawading Jeep and asked them to reflash it as per the TSB (even had a copy of it with me). So I thought I would be out of there in half an hour, not so. The mechanic who worked on my car was very, very, thorough with checking my car (maybe because I stood there watching him to ensure he did the reflash as per the TSB). He confirmed that all the wiring was fine, he swapped out the actuator, and came to the conclusion that the FDCM was f*cked. He told me that continual reflashing was no good for the FDCM and it would be better to get a new one and install. So he has ordered me a brand new FDCM.
So, 2 and a half hours later I was out of there (still with no low 4wd), but knowing they are getting me a new FDCM completely free of charge. His 2 and a half hour diagnosis was also completely free of charge. I probably could not speak any higher of Nunawading Jeep, they have been great to me.
BTW, I too still always carry my pre-nuked FDCM, but I will not let them anywhere near it.

The July 29 TSB released in the US was apparently never released in Australia, therefore the service people don't know about it. However the software and Help instructions were updated in the TCM module in wiTECH consistent with that TSB (Maybe Aug 1 in AU). Therefore the service technician can re-flash your TCM with the latest version according to the latest instructions as per the July 29 TSB. He just needs to go and take a look in wiTECH. Perhaps Jeep are trying to keep it quiet or perhaps the organisation has lousy internal communication. Either way it seems it is up to forums like this to equip owners with the information required to get past the hubris of some service staff.

Had the latest re-flash today. Jeep Customer Services in Melbourne told me they had teed it up with the service people at Pt Augusta. When I arrived I found it was not so simple. The service manager had not been provided with any information and was very reluctant to do it in case the software was incompatible with an Aussie spec vehicle. I assured him others had it done in AU without problems. I gave him a copy of the July 29 TSB. He agreed to do it if I signed a waiver. I declined, so he referred it to the site manager who heard me out and agreed to proceed. I witnessed the act which went without a hitch. I now have 4WD Lo. I am mystified why the July 29 TSB has not been released in Australia but as Shakespeare wrote "There are more things in heaven and earth than are dream't of in your philosophy".
