All input much appreciated ( ps 2006 4.7)
( also part is over $1200 .. damn I 'm going back to Merc's - cheeper parts)

Also in Reply to earlier question on CRD economy... my last highway trip in my other jeep Wg crd was 7.6 per 100 at 110kmh / 1 up not towing , SYD to MELB.... not a wh I know but may be of interest to prior post..
Service electric brake is common as muck. A reflash is required from memory.

My power steering pump failed last Friday. After a week of waiting Jeep dealer calls to tell me it's another 3+ week wait and will cost $571.45 (not fitted).

So I've just order TWO pumps ( I hear this is a relatively common issue) from overseas for less than the cost one here. If anyone wants one let me know! (5.7 Hemi 05~10)

Fitting it is a piece of cake.

To get this sort of economy you must be driving very, very slowly.
I kinda cheated with that figure cause I press the reset button while doing 80km/h but it's a legitimate figure that comes up, whether these electronic gizmos can be believed or not. I also get a clear run to work with hardly any traffic lights so it all helps the fuel economy.

Also an update on my wagon. Had the flex plate replaced (not the flywheel) and had a second hand one put in for $1500, brand new is $1700. Certainly not a part that should need replacing. My turbo pipe cracked aswell but was replaced under warranty. Still gave me a shock when it made a loud bang when it let go, along with the cloud of black smoke that followed me home.

Our WH is 2.5 years old with 38,000km on the clock. Until last week, faultless. Then the battery started becoming weak to start the CRD and on a camping trip a few days ago (Elim Beach nth of Cooktown - awesome place!), we needed a jump-start. Called our local dealer this morning (Irelands in Cairns) and the battery was replaced ($550 quote) at no charge under warranty....very happy.

Likewise my WH CRD suffered a battery failure after 2-1/2 years and 68,000km. I was in too much hurry to try for warranty replacement. My mate in the trade got me a replacement for $130. Need to watch those dealer prices!

I have only just replaced my original battery at 85000kms and 4yrs old, and i think thats mainly because the missus kept leaving the kids dvd player plugged into the power outlet.........when it was parked on holidays for a week.

How on earth does a dealer try to charge $550 for a battery?!?! Particularly when batteries are available elsewhere. Sure, they have us by the nuts for oem parts unless we import or go through Wooders, but how do they justify $550 for a battery?
