Default Robe Sa

Hi,

I'm looking at organing a trip to Robe SA, around Xmas/New years

Can anyone give an info on camping on the beach or surrounds or accomodation nearby etc

Whats the beach driving like? Will it be too busy? Can you drink on the beach? Camp fires?

Are there better less known locations that are better for beach driving?

Any info or pics would help?

did Carpenter Rocks to Robe last weekend. Some beaches soft but OK for TJ's with low tyre pressure - just air down til tyres bag out enough to get around. Plenty of fishermen camped on beach with fires.

As the majority of the coastal area is covered by Parks or Reserves & bordered by private property the oppurtunity to free camp is a bit limited particually for groups. Camping on the beach it's self is not normally allowed but quite a few small formal camps are spread throughout the back beach. The caravan parks at Beechport or Southend are ideally situated for day runs through Cunundra & up to Robe.
We found great accomodation available in Robe & Beechport but could be booked out & very expensive at xmas.
Beach conditions change with some being very trecherous but there are always options to get around. A few Rangers get about at times so keep the drinking low key & you'll have no problems.
Fires are OK given the usual summer restrictions.
Download these free maps http://www.westprint.com.au/freemaps/ from tha Wattle Ranges 4x4 club as a start.

Toly the Wattle Ranges 4wd club and Westprint maps have done a mud map with notes of the Robe-Beachport area:
http://www.westprint.com.au/freemaps...ip%2520Map.pdf

Doors off, your call I guess.

Fishing is good. Around the boat harbour, long beach, any of the back / coastal beaches, or the numerous inlets and tidal estuaries you'll see on the way on. Check local bait supplies for whats biting and where.

But take inland and offshore lines if you have em, there's plenty of choice.
