Hack N' Tap SYE opinions?
Hey all, I am considering going with a hack n' tap SYE on my xj. Sick of my garbage vibes on acceleration and want to sort that. The IRO kit is like $99 which is fair, can get a shaft at a wrecker for next to nothing so I assume it'd work on a 2" lifted XJ? Any experience or people who use it would be appreciated for your info!

I used the IRO SYE in mine for several years, it works properly and will be fine for a 2" lift, I was running it with a 3" lift with no issues.
Just be sure you get a good shaft, I have one for sale if need be.
Be sure to cut and drill the shaft with it spinning in the opposite direction to the drill....

Awesome! Thanks mate, I'll get down to the wreckers either Saturday or Sunday and have a play with one of the front shafts there. I'm looking for movement in the slip joint yes?
And I have a wet yoke 242, is that going to cause any issues with installing the HN'T?

With the wet yoke 242 you need the seal housing as well (of which I also have for sale...), you need to remove the extension housing and fit the new seal housing when you do the HnT.
Yes, you're looking for play in the slip joint and the double cardan joint...

After going out and measuring, I may be causing myself more problems than needed. My xj has a perfect pinion angle.... my issue lies elsewhere....

Mate I hope you nail this down soon.
I know you swapped tail shafts but are you one hundred percent sure the second one was balanced properly. Shame you can't remove it on the wet transfer cases so you can be sure. I,m reconsidering whether a SYE elimination will solve my vibes after reading Wooders comments in this http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...t=47312&page=3
starting to get like you were I want it all smooth.
Just got to get the WJ steering conversion done first.

Hmmmmmm...... Im just contemplating what to do. I wanna get it up in the air and check for tyre/rim run out and check my axle shaft unis/front hubs..... I have a feeling these 3 are potentially causing me massive issues with the constant vibes I get.... I will post this in the other thread too.
