Default Xj turbo heads off how

Hello, mate wants to change head gaskets on a xj 2.5 turbo diesel but has come unstuck on removing some bolts, anybody done a how to on this, cheers,

Good luck !
The manifold nuts are killers. Removing the clutch M/C helps so you can get your hand in from the back of the engine.
A short combination spanner (ring on end open on the other) has worked for me. The manifold nut behind the turbo is the hardest.
Probably your head gasket wont be your problem. More likely the heads have gone soft from over heating or a leaking plug.

When I saw this thread it got me motivated to finish taking the heads off my older jeep. It has a problem that it is too hard to start.
So I have 2 sore wrists with a few bruses from undoing the bottom #3 exhaust manifold nut. Only took 1 1/2 hrs for that nut. The dam thing wouldnt undo & I ended up needing to unscrew the stud with the nut on it. To my surprise all heads still have hard surface. The pistons are snug in the bores but there is too much oil finding its way up. Started taking sump off as it looks like ring problems.
