Looking at trying a Narva 5 pin LED flasher relay #68256BL.

Will tell you how it goes!!

Otherwise looks like a Chinese EP27 clone??

If the hazards are working fine, the problem is in the control stalk. Both the indicators and hazards use the same flasher unit.

Yeah, but when I googled the issue all the American info that came back on 99-01 units pointed to the relay in the first instance, not the stalk. The symptoms are irregular numbers of flashes on the indicator on either side, sometimes 1 or 2 flashes, other times 8 or 10. Never nothing.

Anyway, since going out and purchasing the relevant relay, in true Jeep fashion all things have returned to normal operation .

Ill keep the new relay in reserve until the problem returns .

It must be a bad contact either in the relay/relay socket or other connection in the loom . Intermitent faults are the hardest to find .

reviving an old thread..but my '96 had the issue of the "hazard lights" failing to switch off, which was intermittent, but then they wouldnt switch off at all, even with the key out.

On investigation it turns out any related issue is a the relay, or the "multi function" stalk switch

I pulled the relay, which is bright yellow, and under your left knee, after removing lower plastic panel.

Cleaned the contacts, gave it a squeeze, and that seems to have rectified the issue of staying on permanantly

anyone else had a similar problem and what was the outcome ?

I will do a little research, but is the EP27 the correct relay ?..I see they are available via Ebay (from China) for less than $10
