Default Changing power steering fluid

Okay I figured I have done 90,000k,s since the last power steering fluid change or so I thought
Looks like the power steering fluid has never been changed my previous mechanic charged me for it like the diff's and pinion seal (not)

What a bugger to get the correct power steering fluid for a 07 WH CRD

Dealer only had 1 litre in stock $35 and I already drained 2.5 litres out of it that's the second time this week I have bought power steering fluid and can't use either of the last 2 purchases in either my Jeep or jaguar

At least I have 5 litres of dex 3 amsoil LOL

Looks like Penrite make a fluid for it something out of the wreck LOL

Yeah they just call it "PAS Fluid".
I've been using it for ~30K with no (noticeable) problems *shrug*.

Thanks for that James

I was a bit worried after the ATF transfer case fiasco and when I was in autobarn the other day there is so much to choose from it very confusing

I don't trust website product usage any more after the ATF transfer case fiasco any more

Np, yeah I know what you mean... it's a might of a minefield ay.
For the PAS I just looked for the Chrysler spec (which is published for the Mopar fluid; the workshop and owners manual state the famous "or equivalent".), so that's good enough for me.

The TC oil is the odd one out, as there isn't any spec or technical details at-all published for the Mopar-badged stuff. So we just kinda got lucky that the info about it being Mobifluid 424 got out.

The power steering system requires the use of "Hydraulic" power steering fluid as it's a hydraulic system. I only use Mopar MS-10838 hydraulic power steering fluid. I get mine from the states through the Mopar site.

As far as I'm aware there is not a comparable hydraulic fluid available that will meet MS-10838 specs other than the Mopar product.

I did some extension research a few years ago when I was looking for some and I did check the Penrite site but I didn't go with their recommendation for the Pas Fluid as it wasn't hydraulic fluid and it didn't meet MS-10838 specs. They do make a LDAS Hydraulic fluid for use in hydraulic power steering systems but again it doesn't meet the MS-10838 specs.

I was advised by a Jeep technician that ATF fluid or non-specific power steering fluid must not be used as a refill or top-up as seal leakage and/or pump damage will occur.

So I took no chances and went with the Mopar product.
