Can't disagree with any of that, I had same experience with a VW dealer a few years back and a Mazda dealer (wife's car) more recently. If just one 'brand' got their dealer/servicing/parts supply network seriously up to to scratch, word would soon travel and market share would escalate. It's the old story, not interested once they've sold you the car. Big opportunity for FCA, but it won't happen no matter how often they get a new CEO.

I’ve owned 8 vehicles over the past 20 years. One has been a Jeep, for 4-5 years. The Jeep had far more faults than the seven other vehicles put together. I wouldn’t say it was unreliable, but it was absolutely far more “problematic” than a modern vehicle should be.
Even if every brand’s standard of aftersales support was equally poor, I had to interact with it far more frequently as a Jeep owner than I have with any other vehicle. There was at least one thing constantly broken on that thing for most of the time I owned it. In my experience the standard of aftersales support was also worse from Jeep than from other brands I’ve owned. So all in all, I spent to much of the ownership experience arguing with FCA and/or dealerships, or researching consumer law and talking to fair trading and writing letters of demand.
Jeep make very appealing vehicles. They look good, they’re capable and drive well (when all the bits are working properly), and the brand is iconic. If their quality and after sales support was in fact no worse than other brands, I doubt their sales would have fallen off a cliff.
Can’t help but feel they’re turning themselves into the Alfa Romeo of the off-road world. Nice to see them around, but I’ll be f***** if I ever buy another one.

The other BIG issue with Jeep, is public perception.
If a Jeep has a major issue, it gets front page news coverage, major issues with other vehicles hardly rate a mention.

And once negative perception is sufficiently widespread it establishes a reputation that is extremely difficult to turn around. FCA have indeed painted themselves into a corner based largely on poor attitude.

This is a small article in today's paper, I wonder if it will make the 6 o'clock news? Multiple engine replacements ...
If it was Jeep i'm sure it would.

As we say it isn't just Jeep, it is just Jeep get the distinguished recognition of full media coverage.
