ARB will not guarantee their recovery points because they do not want to be sued by someone that hurts themselves or others when using them for a recovery. However they will work for recoveries as many people on here including myself will attest to.

DO NOT use the existing ring on the front as it is a tie down point only.

Don't worry too much about it. As stated earlier, a pair of recovery tracks and a shovel will get you out of 99% of situations for the type of driving you want to do.

If you are concerned that it isn't enough then as per your own suggestion, get yourself a hitch recovery shackle for your rear bar as these work really well.

Ok, sounds good. I'll take that advice. I was looking at the MaxxTrax, but the Tred version seems to be pretty good value at BCF.

I picked up a compressor from OL at the 4WD show last month, have a quote from TJM for the RhinoRack roof and bull bar in Northern Beaches, and will collect a recovery kit as well.

Aside from TJM, any other recommendations for 4X4 service/shops in Northern Beaches? I plan to get a few quotes as this new hobby seems rather expensive!

They are exactly the same as the treds only cheaper. I've used them heaps of times to help myself and others out of the mud and sand and they are great.

Out of curiosity, what do you want to carry on the roof?

I ask because you might get away with a set of normal roof racks depending on the weight.
