Default Rough Cherokee Chief Value

I inspected this car during the week but haven't been watching the market long enough (and not any currently for sale) to know whether
a. they're rare enough to make it worth repairing
b. what it might be worth

It's been sitting for a long time, engine is out and disassembled, body obviously needs attention, windscreen is cracked, interior is pretty stuffed. I figure it'd be easier to swap in the powertrain and interior from a running 4 door.

What are your thoughts? I'm after a tidy driver, not a mint resto. I really prefer the 2 door WT over the 4 door, but they're much harder to come across.

Work backwards:
Finished (restored) value to you eg $10K
Minus amount of work needed
Equals starting price.

The market for old cars is small. Jeep owners are tight ars*s and car collectors don't buy Jeeps. The only Jeeps increasing in value are genuine WW2 Willys I reckon.

I had tried working it backwards, but came to negative 5k The owner threw out a figure of 5k, I'd be thinking 2-3k but after consideration it's too much work for what I'm after.

I had seen that white one, he's asking 7k on ebay I can't see it bringing anything close to that.

Buy for 3k.

2k for crate 350 chev
2k for turbo 350 trans

Thats just to make it move reliably. Then body and paint can come over time. Find second have LPG setup on ebay thats still in date and install that also.

Or just piss everyone off and buy a GQ 4.2l diesel donk and chuck that in it.

The engine and trans aren't my main concern, it's the brakes, shocks, bushes, quadtra trac, fuel tank & lines, etc etc that have been sitting deteriorating for so many years. Swapping the driveline (excl diffs) and interior from a 4 door seems like the simplest solution, but the 4 door I've enquired about is '82 so I believe the front diff drops on the wrong side.

500 Bucks if your keen for the project.
The roof is rooted so cut the back off and make it into a ute.
The most fun with old Jeeps is making stuff from the wreckers fit.
