Whats up with the oil fillers being so high?? Looks like they have just done that just to clear their name and that is not good at all.
They should be close to the centerline of the axle on the rear D35 and front as well for a high pinion D30 but a bit over a inch lower if a low pinion. You can not just run more or less than what the diff is exactly designed to run at.

this is certainly a problem for anyone who has installed the RockCrushers...you cant simply fill them to the bottom of the fill plug (or 1/2" less) as that would be way too much and they will pump axle fluid out the breather...conversely, you cant just add the same amount as what came out because of the shape of the cover (its larger, therefore the level is lower with the same amount of fluid)...its trial and error...i just installed mine today (Breyton, great minds think alike) and added just a bit more to meet the same level as what came out (i checked the fluid level height before removal of the stock units using a coathanger)...so far so good
i had my covers baked before anything was done to get all the oil out of the surface, then prepped them with Killrust Cold Galvit and then Heavy Duty Primer...next they were powder coated black, then the ribs and lettering where polished and then they were baked a second time with clearcoat...i found the D35 unit needed a little grinding on the bottom bolt holes to match the axle and both units needed sealant on the fill plug to eliminate leaks...a lot of work and time - but for something that will withstand a Caterpiller driving over it without breaking it was worth it!

HAhahaha..... nooo!! that would ruin my wolderful painting!!

Agreed though about the oil levels. I think keeping the lower half on the casting uninterupted probably helps make it stronger. Yet there is no guidelines in the box for installing, painting or filling.

Will be working on the roofrack and installation next weekend.
