Default WK2 Lower Front Guard

The current Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) is a luxury SUV that is surprisingly capable off-road, but if you're going to venture off-road, there are a few places that need additional protection.

Chief Products is doing our best to address these needs with our current line of products for the WK2.
WK2 Recovery Hook
WK2 Recovery Point
WK2 Sump Protection Plate

The WK2 Lower Front Guard is one of our latest products, and it's designed to protect the critical area at the lower front of the WK2. The lower Radiator Core, ACC Camera, Windshield Washer Bottle and Air Suspension Controller are all critical components that require protection off-road. We've designed the WK2 Lower Front Guard to sit behind the OEM air dam, so you can maintain OEM appearance on-road, while gaining full off-road protection for this area while off-road.

We don't have any pricing yet, but we've completed our first prototype and begun in the field testing. Depending on the results of our testing I expect release in the next 1-2 months.

In the meantime, I thought I'd provide some behind the scenes development information for the passionate WK2 owners of this forum. If you've got any questions, post them in this thread and I'll do my best to answer them.

Here are a few details:
  • It will come with an option for ACC Camera equipped WK2s.
  • We're not currently satisfied with the design of the ACC Camera Guard, so we'll be redesigning it to better protect the camera, while also not sticking out as far.
  • The WK2 Lower Front Guard will come in several pieces to reduce shipping costs and make installation easier.

I've included a few photos, but please keep in mind these are prototypes, not finished products.

Cheers,
Bill

Top job Bill.

One question I have is will it work without your sump plate?

Dont think less on me but I have the uneek plate.

Hey Hounds,

They should work together, but I can't say for sure until we finalise development.

No worries. YankeeDave at Uneek seems to be a pretty smart guy, so I'm sure his plate is high quality.

Cheers,
Bill

Hey Jasman,

We're still finalising the design. I'm hoping we can put out a Nudge Bar that won't interfere with the parking sensors, which to my knowledge, no one has been able to do yet.

Cheers,
Bill

Weekend trip highlighted a need for this bit of kit.

Front lip got caught going through this section.

Pull back and a quick removal of the lip and got through fine.

Two mates I was with got through fine. One with the bar did a little plowing and it has a lift. The other without the bar has stock suspension and still got though with no issues.

I have Stu's lift but still don't like taking the lip off because it would be just my luck one of the many sticks on the track would find its way into my radiator.
