Default Aftermarket parts

Hi I have started this thread because kj's seem to get the raw deal when it comes to aftermarket parts, there doesn't seem to be listings for any kj parts in any of the auto parts suppliers so I thought people can write down any aftermarket parts or alternative parts to original jeep parts that they have found.

I havn't got a lot yet but as I change things hopefully I can add to this

Fan belt Idler pulleys for 2.5crd (not sure if same as 2.8 )
Jeep $330 ea
Repco EP101 to suit toyota $41 ea
Repco EP075 to suit Daewoo $41 ea
The dimensions ar OD 70mm ID 17mm W 26mm

As you can see there is a huge saving but unfortunately it takes time to research so if we can help each other out it can save time as well
Cheers
Nigel

P.S. I am working on the fan belt at the moment but it is an odd size of course

Bosch and Dayco both do fan belts for the 2.8. They are about $60.00. Better quality than the Jeep part too. I have misplaced the number however the dealers have the number in their parts book under Liberty. If not take the belt in and they will measure and supply..... if they are any good that is
The bit I have been having trouble tracking down in Aus is the timing set for the front of the 2.8. Jeep quote was in the order of $900.00 just for the bits!!! Any info on this would be much appreciated.

The part number for the timing belt is Gates 5586XS I couldn't find a listing on the gates website so VM might have exclusive rights to it I did have dimensions for it but I cant find them sorry

I bought mine from the VM Specialist for 47 pounds approx $96 aus
Other prices tensioner 58 pounds approx $119 aus
Idler pulleys 32 pounds approx ea $65 aus ea
I ordered alot more parts and the postage was 78 pounds
and there was some import tax through customs but over all it was less than half the price jeep quoted

Hope this helps

For an 05 CRD:

Oil Filter: Ryco Z596 $35, (OE Jeep one is $20!)
Air Filter: OE Jeep $30 (couldn't find an Oz aftermarket one)
Fuel filter: OE Jeep $90
Fan belt: OE Jeep $80
I disagree RE the advantages of the dayco/gates acc. belts. The OE belt is 'stretchier' and more supple than the Gates and Dayco versions. The stretch is to help even out the diesel engine vibs, especially on shut-down. The OE belt is designed to work with the torque reactive alternator pulley to dampen the surges and reduce bearing loads/wear on the accessories.

Acc belt pulley - MEYLE PART No: 100 145 0003
The exact same pulley is used for various Euro GM and VW cars.
But thanks for the Repco tip - coz i was giong to go into the Holden part place and look at their calibra/saet/daewoo pullies!

Btw - the fan belt/acc pullies are 'servicable'. The dust covers on the 'sealed cartridge bearing' easily pops off. You can then stuff the bearing housing full of grease. It quitened my noisy bearings quite a bit (they were almost dry).

I have more prices on the alt pulley. timing belt etc etc, and will post them once i dig them all out from storage (cough - from under the big pile of rubbish on my work table - cough)

Thanks nudge.
Loric. Good tip in the pullies. I personally stopped using Jeep fan belt as they kept splitting on the outer side. To date the Bosch has done nicely but will see long term. The felt contact surface is very quiet too.
The only stock aftermarket air filter I have found is from K&N 33-22-33. $90.00
It goes well if you don't believe their 50,000km service intervals especially if you are in dusty conditions. It needs regular service in relation to cleaning and re-oiling but it does significantly improve throttle response.

Here are some Jeep OE part costs from my files (as opposed to from the top of my head last time!):

Radiator hose inlet CH-K55037920AC $48
Radiator hose outlet CH-K55037921AE $107
Accessory belt CH-K05072437AC $88
Timing Belt CH-K05142579AA $249
Heater Fan Resistor 5139719AA $80
Oil Filter CH-K05003558AA $13
Air Filter CH-K05018777AB $20
Fuel Filter CH-K52129238AA $87
Alternator Pulley $245

All for 2005 KJ CRD. All prices include GST.

There was also the CAC-In turbo hose. But that price was so painful i think i am suffering selective amnesia.
