well I just spent hours reading about fans vents scoops hi flow water pumps and thermostat housings and clutch fans now a while back I had issues with getting a serpentine belt size was wrong now I never got around to getting one after I sent the wrong belt back I was reading about the belt slipping and not turning the clutch fan enough and as mine is a bit glazed I have decided to change the belt before I do anything I was going to change anyway cant hurt
if I was going to go with any mods I think it will be louvered vents on the bonnet remove hot air at any speed as hot air rises
it actually would be interesting to take a run with the bonnet off and watch the temp gauge is that legal ?

Can definitely run hotter on gas.
Is it duel fuel so you can try petrol.

Taking the bonnet off may not prove anything as you potentially might create a pressure area straight after the radiator, why don,t you space the rear hinges an inch and see how it goes.

Lastly you haven't proven if it is actually overheating !!
Old gauge and sender and they are not known for accuracy

I missed xjdavids post as I was posting went off and did some reading on a landrover forum one guy said on lpg he was running 10 deg higher holy crap other people saying it should only be 2 or 3 deg higher

Which makes me think when I did a thermostat a year ago it let me down on the highway as there was no coolant circulation the coolant in the gas converter got cold and that's why it started running crappy ?

I am sorta thinking about louvered vents and a manual electric fan switch
or perhaps 2 electric fans no clutch fan and louvers I think I hope I dunno
what ever I do hope it works

I had a problem like this I did a coolant change, used a different brand, this caused "flocking" like small fibres in the coolent. I would swear blind I flushed all of the old coolent out, got the rad serviced and he said it was 30% blocked. Explained flocking, also recommend rmi 25. So I used it. Fantastic.
Overheating solved, driving around in 35+temps, all day any speed a/c flat out.
No so much towing 1.8 ton trailer up a range in in similar temps.
Still working on that.
Good luck with it.

WTF. I thought type A and B coolants were not compatible. Causes jelly and fibres? Please explain further.
