100,000 service WK2 Petrol (2012) what’s included and prices

Hi brains trust,

My trusty WK2 is nearing 100,000 kms and I intend to keep the car a long time. Best car I’ve ever owned. (Technically this would be the 96k service but I just service every 10k to keep it simple).

I called the dealer to enquire what they changed and how much the cost was.

The said around $950 and they changed:

* Automatic transmission fluid (can they actually do this for $950 inclusive? I’m reading parts and oil is close to a grand by itself?)
* transfer case and diff oils
* engine oil and filter
* flush brake fluid
* top up other fluids
* cabin filter
* only check drive belts (they said they didn’t have a recommended time to change the belts, would inspect and change if worn?)
* airfilter


I can do all this myself (bar the belts and gearbox) but intend to buy parts and get a mechanic to do it to keep my extended warranty intact.


Who else has done their 100k service and can you tell me specifically IF

1) the gearbox transmission fluid was changed

and

2) if drive belts were changed please?

Would certainly be worth verifying that price. I use an independent Jeep mechanic who always charges much less than dealers. Although mine's a diesel, I just paid $1340 to have all that done including oem parts. About $390 of that was for the trans service including fluid, gasket and filter. Drive belt was ok. Not sure if servicing/oils etc. may be less for petrol engine??

Thanks mate. I think the diesel has a few more filters that’s all. The transmission, oil and differentials would be very similar especially to service. It’s a little more expensive to service.

$390 for a full automatic transmission change including labour? That’s good!! Any chance you could post up part numbers and brand and prices of the filter, fluid and gasket pls for us all to know. I’m thinking I’ll do it too (outsource to an AT specialist), but dealer said don’t do it, we don’t recommend it or do it unless the transmission is having problems. If I do, I’d rather provide them with parts and the correct oil.

I'd have to delve to get part numbers etc. but he's a Jeep specialist and uses all Mopar parts, except engine oil (we used Castrol). The bill splits up like this:

Personally I'm cautious about using generic specialists (AT or other), but that's just me! I'm happy to have found this guy, and he works only on WK/2 GC's.

Does anyone know any good Transmission places to have the GC serviced in the greater Sydney area?

Perhaps one you have used yourself and can recommend?

Even though Jeep says no need to change the ATF, I think I need to do it at 100k

Try CATS (C.A.T.S.) in Alexandria.... I have taken several cars there (Fords, Jeeps etc), even with karput solenoids etc, and their work is top quality. Have used them for more than 30 years.

I lost my overdrive gear on my XJ four years ago, and there was a possibility that the tranny would have to go given its age. It was side by side with a KJ on a hoist. They know their sheet.

As it turned out, they fixed it, and I am still on my original tranny 23 years later.
