yeah definitely need to adjust the pinion depth also don't forget to check the drive and coast side of the gears!

also pattern checks are useless unless the diff is under load. make sure your diff is under load for the test.
either slide axles in and ride brakes while turning the carrier or pry against the carrier while turning

I have been holding putting pressure against the carrier while turning it, I might lever a lump of wood in there to put more pressure on it.

I've decided on adding 10 thou on the pinion tomorrow and we will see how that goes, so much for using the engravings to get it close, I think it'll end up with the same shims as the origional one but it's getting close. I thought using the engravings should work seems though there both dana gear sets

Today I had a quick go again, I ended up with a total shim thickness of 60 thou, the same as the origional gear set, my backlash is too tight but I was running out of time so I got a pattern anyway, looks pretty close. Nice and centred on both coast and drive but I won't be able to get a proper pattern till I sort out the backlash

It's taken me a while to get back into it but I set the backlash to 0.008 today and got a good pattern, I think it's on the money but what do you guys think.
