Mistery 17mm bolt driver side of the 2.7crd block?
Hi dear gents , i just got myself an 03 Jeep WJ 2.7 crd overland with all the gizmos on it and with only 120k km on it ... And of course i got my hands on it right away , changed the oil/filter right away , and of course the diesel filter (big mistake ))) as i did not know how to prime the system, luckly i have a brake bleeder that uses the compressor pressure and managed to fill the system then a friend came with a shop starter and cranked on it for a few good hors until we manged to get it started. Btw i can NOT find the dealer procedure for diesel filter change and priming the system using the factory plug , does anyone here have that ?
After changing the oil , i went for a drive into the mountains and back to find under the car a major oil leak from a "mistery bold" , that i later tighten a 1/4 turn and it's good now , WHAT IS THIS THING ? ( on my 2.7T audi there is the crank lock pin
Thanks guys !

Looks like an oil gallery plug to me. Incidentally extended cranking with air in the system can severely damage both fuel pumps as they rely on fuel for lubrication. Use a big syringe on the bleed valve to suck the fuel through.

It's an oil gallery port, I installed my oil temperature sensor there.

awesome , thanks guys !
apparently the fuel pump is ok ( no issues ) i figured it all out , the bleeding , the hoses...
now i want to find some info regarding the maze of coolant lines and all that crap that is most likely useless .. and i talking about the auxiliary water pump lines to the intake manifold and to the back of the engine block. so if you have a link with info regarding this stuff , please post it !
EGR is already disabled based on the post here , thank you guys !

If you crank the engine for a long time to try and prime your fuel system you will slowly destroy your fuel pumps and wallet.
Download the manual from the link in Everything 2.7 CRD, it will show you how to do it.
Replace filter, fill it with fuel and using a syringe or some sort of suction device draw the air out at the bleed valve before turning the engine...your pumps will then have fuel to lubricate them.
Oh and don't post in the Everything thread, it is a data/Info thread not for chat to clog it up.

The auxiliary water pump you are referring to I believe is the viscous heater which is designed to provide heated water to the air con system for passenger compartment heating/demisting as the diesel engine takes a reasonable time to get up to operating temp.
