Default How hot do you run??

For those who have an obdii scanner and monitor their water temps, what temps are you guys running at...??

Recently I’ve found my temp running a bit warmer then usual, I’m slowly replacing all the usual suspects, but wondering what others run at and does your temps fluctuate a fair bit and how often are you going over 100 degrees....

230f is considered normal. 100c is 212f from memory.

I put in a 180f mishimoto thermostat and with changes to fans (using Diablosport tune) I can keep it at around 95c.

It’s interesting I’ve been reading plenty across what the average is particularly in the states... my JKU religiously sat around the 89 mark rarely going to the nineties and only occasionally on beach driving get over 100...

It is also heating up quickly at idle... Dan is working fine no codes and once thermostat kicks in and high speed kicks in temp comes down... but it hardly ever did this before maybe two or three months ago...

I have a 2015 3.6 and it fluctuates quite a bit, on a cool day it will sit at 96° all day but on a hot day cruising at 100kph it will sit about 103°. Towing the camper up hill on a hot day it's not unusual for it to hit 110°.

I have researched this heaps and it does seem to be normal. I would be more comfortable with lower temps though and am looking at getting a highflow grill to see if that makes a difference.

With the mishimoto thermostat does that hold your temp at 95° on the highway or just around town? I did look into one but read that it won't make much difference on the highway as the thermostat is usually wide open anyway.

It has lowered temps but the diablosport tune gets the fans on earlier.

The main thing is your thermostat getting the engine to operating temperature as quickly as possible. A bit of a temp variance is normal, my TJ runs at the 100c pretty consistently and as long as it doesn’t overheat or run too cool I’m happy.

My temps go from low 90s to 108 pretty quick more commonly at idle and heavy traffic... this it never did before until a couple months ago but the temp is constantly up and down between the two ranges... found a great video explaining the process and the guy has a fantastic channel
