Default 2013 CRD no power, no codes

I picked up an early 2013 CRD GC for my son but it is currently undriveable because it will not rev past 2000rpm, struggles to get to 20km/h and will chug up a hill at 10km/h. Also the engine fan is on full blast constantly. I drove it for 20-30 mins to get it home - trans temp never got over 65c, engine temp never got over 86c.

I've used ODBLink & Alfa ODB to check for codes, but none are present.

Current troubleshooting:
Disconnected battery overnight
Changed oil & fuel filters
Forced DPF regen (showed 29% before burn, 24% after)
Disconnected DPF from exhaust

None of it has made any difference.

Any other suggestions? The lack of any codes is really frustrating!

Have you pulled the MAP sensor & given that a clean?
Sensor is located here: https://www.mymoparparts.com/oem-par...sor-68490034aa

From memory you need a #36 torx to undo it.

Clean it using MAF cleaner spray (no scrubbing with a brush etc) only & allow to fully dry before re installing

Cheers

#40 torx You were very close!

I pulled it and it was clean. I haven't pulled the EGR pipe yet, but that may be a task for over Easter.

Air filter is clean, radiator overflow tank is at the right level, no milkshake in overflow or sump. I did notice the coolant was green, not red like my 2018. I'm assuming this means someone has changed the coolant at some stage - more to dig into there...

I'm having a serious think about it, the fan running like that is a clue but the thought won't gel for me at the moment.

Tap the VIN code into the box on this site and it should show up if there are any outstanding updates for that vehicle, it is a US site but our vehicles do come up on it... https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehic...ls/search.html

Definitely worth checking the VIN for the fan issue as there was a software update to fix an issue relating to high fan speeds after different software update. Although I don't remember if this was a recall or just a software update at the dealer.

Seeing you've already checked the MAP sensor, I'd give the EGR pipe a clean and the MAF sensor a squirt as well just to make sure.

The not revving over 2k is the most telling issue for me - it almost sounds like it's in limp mode. Might be worth a look over by a GC specialist or, god forbid, a dealer

2 outstanding service bulletins - brake booster water shield & fuel pump relay replacement from previous service bulletin. Good news is the sun visor recall was done!

Symptoms for the fuel relay is stalling or hard starting. This has neither, but I will swap the relay anyway as it's a common part.

Any suggestions on a GC specialist in SW Sydney? Worst case I can make a booking for Tynans.

No warning lamps or EVIC messages.
AlfaOBD code scan was clear.

No strange noises (other than the cooling fan howling), no clunks. Doesn't sound like the trans is slipping at all.

I would have expected at least some sort of code to indicate the limp mode, but that's definitely what it feels like.

All GC gave some very useful advice - could be the transfer case locked in 4 LOW. Off to disconnect the selector motor and give it a try over the weekend.
