I'm going to buy an extra 18" steel rim and put a AT tyre on it to throw on my roof rack when touring only.

I had my last Jeep for 10yrs with GY Wranglers and only ever had one puncture.

My WK2 has had 2 punctures in 12mnths in the Khumos, but both times I easily found and plugged the leaked, reinflated and was on my way. No more time than trying to get the spare out of the rear cargo area.

About to put BFG AT's on and the roof spare will just be about not having to drag the spare out of the rear cargo area on the side of a Vic High Country track, and a second spare for inland oz touring.

255/70r18 fit in the spare tyre area and have the same OD as 275/65r18s which also fit onto the GC without a lift

Two questions:

1. Do you 18 plus inch owners drop your pressures by 10-15% when on dirt? If so do you see reduced punctures/tyre problems?

2. Are the Cooper owners happy with the grip on wet bitumen roads?

Yes definitely drop on offroad dirt, but it's recommended to never go below 20psi on 18" and bigger unless extreme need as the smaller sidewalls have less tolerance to breaking the bead.
Both my punctures occured on rocky dirt road, but have to remember these were the stock Khumos. Expect the BFG AT's to be less of an issue, but then I'll probably be pushing into more extreme offroad with them on.
Looked at the Coopers, but read too many negatives on the current ones. Having said that, also read negatives about the BFG's in the wet, but they are the one's that best suit my needs without going to MT's

Got the Bridgestone D697 fitted but have the dilema of pressure.

LT265/60R18 what pressure to use??

Bridgesone have advised 36 - 40 psi would be likley on road.

Any suggestions??

I would run with 36 in the front & 38 in the rear for normal running around.
For long distance touring or towing, add 2 - 4 pound.

Note that these are cold tyre pressures.

Have been using these pressures for years and have had good wear out of my tyres.

Cheers, Craig
