Default 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ

Asking Price: $1,800
Make: Jeep
Model: Grand Cherokee Laredo ZJ
Year: 1997
Condition: Not running condition (Faulty ECU)
Odometer KM: 168,000
Rego State: NSW
*** PRICE INCREASED TO $2500 as car is now in running condition and NSW Registerd for 12 months. New ECU installed. ***

I'm selling my much loved and well looked after 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ Laredo as is for $2500. Car is in running condition with 12 months Rego. Good condition and modifications below could be valuable to serious 4WD enthusiast.

- 5 x American Racing Python (AR166) 15x8 polished alloy wheels
- 4 x Cooper STT pro mud tires 32" (90% tread)
- ARB Front and Rear Air Lockers (Front Dana 30/27 SPL/3.3.73, Rear Dana 35/27 SPL/3.54)
- ARB Tow Bar 2" Hitch 3500KG Rated
- Rubicon Express RE8000 4.5" Super-flex Short Arm Lift kit with OME long travel shocks
(The best ZJ lift kit you can buy. Can fit up to 33-inch mud tyres)
- Rubicon Express Gen2 Sway bar disconnect
- JKS Supernerfs Rock Slider bars

Bought it brand new from a Jeep dealership in 1997 and been fitted with various mods primarily for recreational off-road capability. This Jeep gave me no engine and mechanical troubles in all these years. The engine is perfectly fine and it is only clocked 168,000 km and has always been service regularly and filled with 98 octane petrol. This Jeep is not a daily driver. Only driven on weekends for recreational.

Pick up in Kirrawee, Sydney. Rego expires in 2 July 2020.

It will be a shame to throw this all to a wrecker when someone could use all the 4x4 mods above.

I'll throw in for free a brand new genuine Bushwacker ZJ Cutout-style Extended Flares full kit (unused still in plastic) worth USD$550 to keep your 33" tires perfectly legal and look great.

Is all that's wrong with it an ECU failure?

Been driving the car every weekend to get to MTB trails. Run perfectly fine when the engine suddenly stopped me in the middle of the road. Diagnostic tool could not read any results from the ECU. Sent to ECU for repairs and found leaked capacitors. I could have ordered new replacement ECU in the States for AUD450 shipped preprogrammed with VIN but could not be bothered anymore. Time to let go as it hasn't really been taken out offroad for the last 8 years. Just don't want it wasted to a wrecker when someone might be able to make good use of the mods on their stock ZJ they want to build up. Happy to take offers but not too low.
