Thumbs down '99xj diesel limp home mode

does anyone know about limp home mode on xj '99 diesel. drives normally in first and second gear in all other gears doesnt exceed 2100rpm is there a thing as limp home mode if there is could you tell us we live in the bush thanks clara

You don't specify whether auto or manual.

If auto then yes, the gearbox has a limp home mode, however I thought that this just causes the gearbox to stay in second.

If you're not getting over 2100RPM I'd be suspecting either the fuel pump, filter or injectors.

its a manual and it has normal rev range in the first two gears. cairns jeep has informed me it have limp home mode not sure what they know

Cairns Jeep informs me that the xj diesel manual is fitted with a limp home mode, took my xj there they say the problem is in the electronics? It is something to do with the signal from the accelerator pedal to fuel system, need car for a couple of days to try to find it?But then when I was driving home it fixed it self and for now all is well ? I myself am still not sure if there is a limp home mode on the diesel ? Has any one else heard of this problem it is driving us nuts //

There seams to be 3 limp home modes on the diesel , still not sure what is the cause, been told to reset ,disconect battery for 10 mins/
