Default "Solid" Brand Diff covers ...

Posting this to save others a potential headache ... BEWARE the very different fill hole heights between standard & "Solid" diff covers.

TJ had new "Solid" brand diff covers put on over the w/end. Doh, I failed to notice that the Solid fill holes are much higher than the originals and, as a result, I overfilled it by a country mile (apparently catastrophic for a LSD).

Without taking note of the exact quantity to refill, I merrily proceeded to fill, and fill, and fill, waiting for the oil to dribble out indicating it was at the correct level.

Fortunately my saviour, Waynegler & others, patiently & calmly undid his perfect installation handiwork and proceeded to do it all over again, this time they took care of the filling.

Apart from that trap for new players, they are great covers available at Wooders for next day delivery. They look stunning custom painted too

For reference (as I am changing my diff oils this arvo) the front diff on the TJ takes about 1.2L and the back takes about 1.9L

cheers

LOL Sheeds, those quantities will be indelibly marked in several ppl's minds for many years to come

I wish to Christ the manufacturer would put a bloody note in the box with them saying "Please note fill level may vary ...." for DIYer's, wouldn't take much grrrrr.
