Been a busy weekend, Black Betty has been a workhorse towing a trailer to help the little Bro move house yesterday, so I decided to give her some Love today.
Big shout out to the member Ian, picked up a hardtop from him today and he even grabbed out his own tools to help me put it on. It is in immaculate condition and I hope I can be as good a caretaker of it as he has, it has taken 18 months but I am happy I waited for a "good one".
Major service, new oil all round, the gear box (Nv3550) was rebuilt 2000kms ago, had a change at 500km and decided to put a nice clean dose of RP in as I had it on hand and diff & T-case oil is cheap so bung it in
. New Oxygen sensors, crankshaft position sensor, oil pressure sender, distributor switch plate (cleaned the crap out of the cavity) and computer reset. Other than the first couple of rough starts from new sensors and computer reset she is purring like a kitten the rest of the day. That now completes all the sensors being replaced along with ignition, injectors, exhaust, water pump, radiator, variable speed electric fans & controller, waterless coolant, coil and redoing most of the wiring. All that basically makes it a new car (well seeing as everything has been an upgraded component better than a new car??) and for less that some stealerships charge for a single service on a JK, not long now till all the
Jeep parts are replace
.
Also spent a couple hours while at the workshop tacking the last of the mounts onto the new diffs so the rest of the truss can get welded on over the next week or so. I am thinking blasting and powder coating has got to be the best way to seal the finished diffs...
Got the Rims polished up during the week and the android head unit in, got nearly all the parts now to build the boosted wifi hotspot as well as the 3g/4g repeater, just waiting on my fancy rf cable to come in. I am not sure I am happy with the head unit, will have to "root" it and see if I can't kill some of the bloatwear running on it and control what happens when the ignition goes off (really want it to sleep not shut down).
