Default Tyre Options for Standard 17" alloy rim

G'day all, I bought my latest Jeep late last year (Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport MY2011) and I'm about to get some new A/T boots fitted ready for some summer touring. However it appears the stock 17" rim limits our choices after a couple of calls to garages.

The standard size is P245 75 R17.

I was pretty keen to get the BFG K02's. I used Bridgestone Dueller A/Ts on my last Jeep XJ and liked these, so this was also an option. But after a few initial calls it seems the sizes are not available in the BFG / Bridgestone brands for the standard rim.

Be interested to know what others have had fitted to their standard 17" rims, and where I can get the BFG K02's / Duellers in Adelaide supplied and fitted if they are indeed available?

Cheers!
Jim

Do a search of the forums as there are plenty of posts about this one. People on here have gone up 285s on standard rims.

I went to 265s as I didn't want to change the gearing. The 3.8L motor can be a little down on power with large tyres especially when towing.

Go to Google. Search for bfg. Go to their website. Sizes are all listed.

You can go to 265/70 & it keeps the diameter pretty close to stock.

Or you can fit up to 285/70, though some will rub a little on the front curve of the front sway bar at full lock when flexed. If you do that, you will need to recalibrate the speedo with a Procal, Aeroforce gauges, or tuner that can adjust it, as your speedo will read low otherwise. (ie, you will be going faster than it indicates & are more likely to accidentally go over & get booked.)

As said 265/70/17 keeps the rolling diameter almost the same. They are standard fitment to most 4x4 utes so there are heaps of options in that size.

Maxxis 980's 265/70/17 been running for almost 2 mths and I love em, 3rd set of maxxis on JK's for me. $265 a corner normally, paid $240 ea fitted last month due to Maxxis$100 cash back, I dont expect 80,000 out of em but 55-60k as they appear softer but grippier than equivalants like BFGs or Coopers.

my standard rims were as follows:17 X 7.5, +44.45 offset, 6 inch backspace.
I went from 265 goodyear wranglers to BFG 285/70/r17 muddies on them no problems.
Fuel economy went from 10 to 13 l/100 diesel.
Speed went from 95 kmh gps at a reading of 100 on speedo to 101 kmh gps.
Cheers.
