Default My Standard bar / Winch fitting project

Got a free winch and have now started the fit up of the winch to standard from bar. Here's some pics and info.

Used 8mm flat plate for base.
Had to cut chassis ends to access the nuts for mounting.

Next is to pack the fair lead 60mm on the standard steel bar so it just protrudes thru the plastic bumper.

Whilst its not the way I would have mounted it.... it certainly tucks in nicely - well done !

The disadvantage of these "hidden" winches is that its quite difficult to keep an eye on how the cable/rope is winding onto the drum. Having seen too may staybars broken by cable bunching, cables pulling off the drum by being wound out too far and general rope jams , I like to be able to easily see whats happening.

True mate, thanks for your input.

Nicely done...didn't think you'd fit it in there.

Here's the front metal bar with Fairlead spaced/packed out.

Also the Standard bumper with Fairlead cutout done.
