Didn't exactly hit nerve it's more that without reading it I assumed it was in reference to an Lt Corvette engine GM's answer to the hemi. The Lt is a direct injection engine and has all the same choking issues of manifolds ports and valves as a CRD. So it has its own issues in stock form.

Your right about folks not knowing, many seem to find steering the things a problem let alone how it works.....

My favourite GM is an 8V92 2 stroke, go like the clappers, great sound and no BS, drop a valve you can still run down the road, bit of smoke but thats cool, so long as the sump doesn't ignite....... I wonder of it would fit in a Chevvy 2500.
The 8V92 what a monster, never got to drive one myself but did many quarry miles in a 8V71 trans star tipper, 15sp roady and 44000lbs rockwells. Great old truck as a tipper. Nothing like the note of the old screaming gemmy. What ever you do don't put the wrong oil in it, work college did that once. Spew oil from every orifice as well as the exhaust even the loader had spots of oil on the windscreen just from the Detroit idling while being loaded.

All tangents aside, the OP might get his original question answered if any stats exist on the ownership ratio i.e. CRD/V6 petrol/Hemi among forum members. I doubt they are available, so I'd agree with him that most members are diesel owners which is the simple reason more posts relate to them. Beyond that there is no basis to suggest any of these engines is more troublesome or any better than the others. Most owners would choose the option most suited to their purpose.

Best way would be to do a Poll, that way no comments just tick a box and look at the counter...............
Most would buy what suits their needs.......... horses for courses.
