Default Front right drive shaft clunk.

After replacing my front diff mounts I have now found another drive line clunk. It's coming from the right front, seems like where the shaft exits the diff and enters the CV joint.

Is this a common fault? Theres definitely no issue with the left side, so I wonder if this is due to the offset design?

Rob.

I had to replace my Front prop shaft CV'S as this can be an issue just after i had done my front diff bushes. but i still have a clunk in the front which i think is now slop in the front diff.

My prop shaft cv's are good, as I have already done them. It's reasonable to expect lash in the diff I suppose, but I'm not sure about lash in the right drive shaft specifically...

It could be P/N 52111167AA Axle Shaft Bushing inside the axle housing extension tube that supports the intermediate shaft.

I have a backlash knock and I think it may be this.

Yes I wondered if that was the culprit.

Anyone know if you can remove the extension housing with the diff in situ?

Has anyone replace this bush and has is fixed your clunk?

I have the same issue and it's a tough one to pinpoint. I've replaced diff bushes (with poly ones this time), front CV joint is fine (replaced it last time). So after lots of googling the options seem to be the transfer case is stuffed, the diffs are wearing and the backlash is getting worse or it's a steering rack problem.

My clunk only seems to happen in high range so I'm thinking the TC is the problem. If it was just a bushing then I'd be happier.

Lightbulb

This clunk (if it is the one you get when the auto changes gears sometimes only) seams to be a WH age thing.

interesting enough I had the centre hub nut loosened off while I did my struts and since re-torqueing them (I did them up tight) I haven't heard the clunk since
