Much as though I hate to say it, given the time that has gone by, it is unlikely its on the road any more up north. Either moved to the south or west by now or in pieces.

Hey guys, just got back from 5 days on Fraser island. Had a great time accept for the fact that I had to ride shotgun in my mates prado. Hate to say it but the turbo diesel auto handles the sand very well. (if you like driving a lounge chair) I think my next JK will be diesel automatic,

But to answer your questions. The JK hasn’t turned up yet and we have pretty much given up on her returning. I still check out every silver JK I see drive by!

Insurance waits 2 weeks to write off the vehicle, Contrary to what we were originally told several times over the phone by the insurer. So on Christmas day they write of the vehicle and then begin the process of finalising our claim.

Anyway please don’t forget to vote for my video, if I get a prize, the proceeds will go to hep securing a new JK!

Sucks that they write it off on Christmas day then with all the PHs it will take maybe two more weeks to get the cheque.
I had a VL stolen years ago never recovered, no idea what happen to it. SGIC took 30 days to accept total loss and that fell on Christmas eve.
Gotta make you wonder what these theives actually do with the cars for them to never turn up. I mean do they really rebadge old cars? Your's they may I guess as it is worth a bit.

Regards A

That's a shame Ben.

I guess a brand new CRD is a pretty good replacement too. Are you going the Unlimited now that you'll have baby seats and prams?

You'll be out there on the tracks soon enough.

I don't mind having a navigator until you get your new one if you're keen.

Cheers!

Default OK it been a while but here is the resolution.

I have had to wait till the determination from insurer before giving you boys the gossip.

The insurer has written off the JK. Since I was not the original owner of the vehicle I could not claim “new for old”. So I have had to settle for “market value”.

To keep the story short we received 3 offers from the insurer in relation to market value, the first offer was “shocking” the second offer was still unfair. We then went to the management, outlining our issues and detailing up our expenses (12 page document with photos and recepts) expended on the vehicle. Their third offer was market value and includes our modifications, which we accepted.

Yesterday, Friday, we got a call from a towing agency, indicating that they had found our vehicle and could we come and pick it up. I told them the vehicle was written off and we are not the owners of the vehicle and that the vehicle is owned by the insurer. I have since gained permission from the insurer to view the vehicle at their holding yard and remove any remaining personal affects still left within the vehicle, this will happen Monday.

So currently I am looking to replace the JK, as you may have seen for some current posts, with a Auto diesel 4 door. So we have to settle for an older vehicle since we were paid out on a 2D JK Petrol Manual.

Thanks for you eyes over the saga and if I can offer any advise, photograph all your belongings, keep your recepts and don’t accept the insurer’s first offer.

good to see u got your insurence sorted could u not purchase the jeep back from the insurer? even if u wanted a 4dr desiel auto could u not take out a loan transfer all the mods accross and sell your original as a stocker? because surly ur not going to get the money back u spent on mods like suspension lockers winch etc...
