So I finally got to take my Jeep out on sand. It wasn't the softest stretch I've been out on but the Jeep owned it!

Let my tyres down to 20psi and cruised through ruts, soft parts and hard wet sand. Given that there is no lift and the car is essentially stock with fairly basic AT 225/75/16 I was quite impressed at the way it handled, in fact, being so light it performed a lot better than other vehicles I've been in ie. prado / kluger / patrol.

I know now that really the only minor concern was in deep ruts (beach is obviously well used) i felt the sides scrape a little but as there is no steps it wasn't too bad. I think a 2" lift would just give that added clearance.. Just need to find me someone in SA to install a CRDSTU

Sounds about the same as mine Banter, a bit low. I went jeeping with 2jeepfamily a few weekends back for the day on the beach - who has a 2.5" lift. I was follwing him through the ruts and only very few times did he look like scraping, yet you could definitely feel it in the stock. Great fun though!!! Go the KJ!

Cheers guys

Gotta love the KJ.. Except for the price of 4x4 accessories and parts for it.
