I got some prices yesterday on replacement pads and rotors for the KJ.

EBC Greenstuff Front pads DP 61612 $136.95 set
EBC Greenstuff Rear pads DP 61629 $149.00 set (wrong part for 2005 CRD - see post later in this thread)
Front Rotors RDA7841 $90.00 each

I'm getting a set of the rear pads to fix the annoying rear brake noise I get from the std pads. Jeep won't fix it because they reckon they 'can't hear it'. Typical.

There is some conjecture as to whether these pads are going to fit the 2005 KJ - will find out on the weekend. These are listed as for KJ CRD 2.8 2001- but the picture in EBC's book looks slightly different to what I can see on the car at present. The brake guy reckons they are right though. We'll see.

Regarding dealership pricing - I got quoted $440 for a 30000km service from Chellingworth the other day, Waneroo Jeep charge $330 for exactly the same thing. This service is basically an engine oil and filter change and air filter if it looks dirty (they probably charge you extra for that). I emailed the service manager and asked him to call me to justify why I should use Chellingworth as opposed to Wanneroo....no response. What a bunch of rip off merchants.

why dont you find a good mechanic and give the dealer the flick. it wont void your warranty as long as it is a qualified mechanic

Sounds like the same problem that happens with WJ's. Jeep rotors are useless. Replace them with a good set of aftermarkets like RDA or DBA and you shouldn't have any more problems (plus it is cheaper).

You need a qualified mechanic to do an oil and filter change???? Did it myself already. The 'A' Servicing in the handbook is only every 20000km anyway, perhaps Jeep will do the 40000km service to maintain warranty if that's what they want (if I still have it then....).
