Default KJ Tailgate Clunking

Since driving heaps of corrugated roads back in March I've noted a clunk in the rear end. I have since identified it's the tailgate clunking when going over bumps etc on the road. As a test I shut the tailgate with a piece of cloth in the guide bracket assembly and this stopped it.

So my question is, is this fixable by simple adjustment of the brackets on the body and the tailgate? Or is a new rubber bit needed?

Anyone had this problem before and worked out a solution? And yes, I did a search here first but no love.

Thanks guys.

Had the same problem with ours. Fixed it up by adjusting the locking brackets and tighteneing up the spare tyre mounts.

Of course this was after spending hours looking everywhere else for the rattle.....

Madkaw, you know not long before my tailgate decided to clunk I'd replaced all of the rear end suspension bushes myself and I was thinking I'd left something loose and had been waiting for the arse end of the car to fall out. Getting it serviced recently I asked the mechanic to have a look at the suspension while it was up on the hoist and he said it was all good. But he did point out the tailgate. WTF? The bloody tailgate.

I'll give it a go adjusting the brackets. Any further hints greatly accepted though.

How are your flipper glass struts? Had a rattle / clinking - the flipper glass struts were worn so I knew they needed replacing - when I did the tailgate quietened down. Like it helps steady it as a package.
