Default body lift advice

i want to do a 1inch body lift on my Tj and i got a few questions about it

1 - is it a DIY job, i'll have a mechanic mate helping me? do i need him? 2 man job?

2 - do i have to do a motor mount lift when i do a body lift or can i just do the body lift?

3 - apart from adding in the packing blacks what else do i have to do eg extend filler hoses etc? and is it easy to do?

sorry guys but i have no experience in body lifts at all - everything else i have some idea but this, not at all

I believe that if you do a BL without a MM at the same time you will have to cut your fan shroud. If your doing the work i would just go all the way and do MM too. Its something you will be glad you did in the longterm anyway.

Someone else with a bit more knowledge than me can clarify this point and help on others too. Ben just installed his BL and MM a few weeks ago so i am sure he'll be really helpful. Just make sure you DIY tho. So much fun.

You ditched the idea of the bigger springs?

Hey, this is my topic!!

Check out the thread I started on BL's under the Wrangler section. Also go to JU and type in "Body Lift". Plently of good stuff there.

Well having just installed a 2" BL with a couple of helpers, then more hands the better. However I'd imagine there's less involved with a 1" (no extending fuel lines, steering linkages, etc, so you could easily do it by yourself.

In my mind, if you're doing the BL you should also do a MM at the same time - it just makes sense (IMHO). And for job I reckon two people would make it a hell of a lot easier.

I installed my 2" BL myself over a few evenings after work - no problems....Just take your time & enjoy...
As for the MM I still haven't fitted one to mine - maybe one day I'll get around to it

Yeah, but were you running a transfer case drop at the time? I did my MM to get rid of it.
