I've worked in the oil industry for over 25 years and worked inside diesel tanks during cleaning and maintenance, maybe even know a little about about the manufacturing and blending process involved with diesel manufacture for the automotive and marine use. I have had experience with these bacteria on an industrial level and yes it can happen.
As Glen says only buy your fuel from reputable dealers with reasonable turnover.
But that website is just a little over the top IMHO and seems to want to scare people into panic mode to buy their products. These things can happen, but it's not that common. Use common sense, service your vehicle when it's due & buy fuel wisely!
