Stock Jeeps don't use voltage boosting diodes. This is a slightly dodgy method of fooling the charging system into overcharging.
Your safest method of charging auxiliary batteries is with a DC/DC charger mounted as close as practical to the aux or trailer battery. This will compensate for any voltage drop in wiring and tailor the charge to suit the battery.
First step is to check the charge rate at both main and trailer batteries. Then check what drains you have had on the battery and over what length of time. Most trailer battery failures are from over discharging or vibration.
