Default Voltage Boosting Diode - JKU

Does anyone know if a 2012 JKU has a Voltage Boosting Diode standard?

I have a camper trailer battery that has failed prematurely and the last charge it got was using an Anderson Plug on the way home. It runs through a Redarc SBI12 isolator but I have been advised to check if the Jeep could be pushing through too much voltage and gassing the battery.

Any thoughts or advice? I don't have much experience in the topic, just passing on some advice I've been given...

Stock Jeeps don't use voltage boosting diodes. This is a slightly dodgy method of fooling the charging system into overcharging.

Your safest method of charging auxiliary batteries is with a DC/DC charger mounted as close as practical to the aux or trailer battery. This will compensate for any voltage drop in wiring and tailor the charge to suit the battery.

First step is to check the charge rate at both main and trailer batteries. Then check what drains you have had on the battery and over what length of time. Most trailer battery failures are from over discharging or vibration.

Default Voltage Boosting Diode - JKU

Is it a deep cycle battery, it might not be dead just needs a proper charge, they need more than 12volts to charge right once they are ran almost flat. Get a proper charger to suit deep cycle batteries not the cheap standard job and give it a charge.

You could also have a problem with your main battery beginning to fail and the Redarc unit is charging this only, thus the aux battery does not get a charge?
or
The Redarc unit is faulty?

sometimes we look for other things when we should look at the system itself... a good digital meter will find any problems in there.

Jeeps run a fairly low charging voltage, which combined with the long length of wire would mean the camper battery will be under charged. A dc/dc charger is a good way to fix this.

Fyi, ive fitted a resistor inline with my batt temp sensor which has boosted voltage to around 14v (ran about 13.6v previously).
Stock voltage is really to low if your running a calcium low or no maintenance batt. These batt have higher internal resistance and need higher charging voltage.
