I never said change the temp of the thermostat, just replace with a hi-flow model.

Yeah, I did ask the guy in Perth for a hi flow one but he said he gets this with the jeeps alot and recomended the 180f one. I think the real problem is the water pump. I took the heater hoses off and flushed the core and found that the tap is working. Some dirty water came out of it, after refitting them and running it up to temp it still dosent heat up. I also noticed that you can't see any flow across the radiator with the cap off. This would also explain the faint boiling sound from the thermo housing and top rad hose as the only the coolant close to the engine gets hot. What do you guys think? I've ordered a new one and and will update next week when I do the job. P.S its manual.

Hi all, well my suspicions were confirmed tonight after removing the pump, the plastic impeller is just short of non existent. With a chunk missing out of it all the vanes snapped off it wouldn't have been pumping anything. Lucky I haven't destroyed the engine.

Nasty. Just make sure the chunks are all flushed out!

Here is the face on view, with the temp only getting to just over half I thought it would never be this bad. The radiator shop I got the thermostat off said this could be the problem and said it was quite common with the plastic impeller version but forget what year he said they brought them in, mines 06.

Yeah, I was able to pull the large missing piece out with some long nose pliers. I'll try to back flush the block to get the vanes out as I can't see them.
