Default Grand cherokee pre purchase things to check

Going to go look at this on the weekend.

https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/d...AG-AD-15229151

Is there anything specific to look at? I currently have a two door jk but need something more sensible as the wife is pregnant. Still want low range and some off road ability.

Grand cherokees, especially the pentastars seem to be really cheap.

I have been around four wheel drives for long enough to check the usual things like torn CV boots, underbody dents etc.

Anything specific that would cause alarms or be a deal breaker?

Can't think of anything, the 5 speeds had a few torque converter failures on the diesels, but haven't heard of any on the petrols.

There's a list of recalls and TSBs here you can look through:

Thanks for that list. I am guessing the diesels fail because they have significantly more torque.

Only fail when towing heavy loads, 3 tonne or so, not towing I haven't heard of any failures

And probably as you said to much torque, the 500 nm merc diesel in the WH doesn't seem to worry the gearbox

Isn't that gearbox rated to 700 Nm?

Cheers

Same box, nag1 but you could be right as I think the Commander box is also nag1 and rated even higher

Need someone who actually knows
