I better answer this one as I owned it back then. No they just machined the exhaust flange to the turbo, the turbo wasn't removed, I actually didn't see it myself they just told me what they did, they opened up the flange to match port the turbo outlet.

thx Mals Jk,

no size difference in mine when I removed it to cut it up and modify it.
I would really like to have a crack at the GDE tune, but have heard a negative report re high EGTs from a REALLY reputable source. How long did you have the tune? did your idle speed increase?

Mal - feel free to chime in again, but exhausts temps should remain below 500deg to avoid damaging anything (from what I've heard) and I've done some pretty heavy wheeling in the year I've had it and never seen the gauge get to 500deg. Low to mid 400's - yes, but never 500. Even when it gets to 400deg+, it isn't there for long at all. I have only ever seen those sort of temps up tough slippery hill climbs with wheel spin. I don't so any heavy wheeling when it's hot (mid summer), so not sure if ambient temp would effect anything?

prolonged use over 500deg isnt ideal but ive seen specs for other manufactures max to 650deg, i dont know what VM say? the engine we run offfshore a Cummins which has it temps logged every 4 hours averages 410deg, its over temp alarm is set at 700deg.
500 was set by the dyno tuner as a safe test limit, the main thing on a dyno is prolonged wot runs, in normal use intermittent loading up and over 500 wont do any harm.
the thing noted was how quickly the exhaust temp rose in the HOT Tune compared to ECO Tune. So yes mick666 you may get high egt working the engine hard in Hot Tune, but general cruising the egt is actually lower with GDE Tune as compared to when it was running the standard factory tune.

EGT is disabled with the GDE tune, so as said elsewhere, the EGT should drop.

I have been running a GDE tune (bought from Murchison) on ECO on a 2010 JKU CRD Auto now for over 2 years (muffler also removed). Jeep is lifted, full barwork and 35's

I dont have a bad thing to say about it, zero issues, improved economy and still improving. All the torque/power I would want from the Jeep

Same here.......MY10 JKU CRD Auto on 33's. Owned since new. My only regret is that it took me 3 years to get the GDE tune. Wish I done it sooner. Runs smoother & quieter, cleaner (less smoke), easier to drive, less turbo lag, more power, more torque (and available from lower in the rev range) and better fuel economy to boot (by about 1.25l/100km). Absolute no brainer for me. If I got another CRD JK tomorrow it'd be the first mod I did.

Ok, the ECO tune is looking very good. The EGT figures you are all throwing around are post turbo (sensor in dump pipe)??
