Default 4.7 Fuel Usage

Just did a trip from Hervey Bay to Brissy, doing speed limits i.e. 60 to 110k's with a fair bit of 40kph thrown in at road works, distance of just over 300k's.
According to trip computer it got down to 12.9L per 100klm, have only figured out how it works after having elec probs in the door LOL.
Was wondering how this sits with other 4.7's or even the 4.0L?

My TJ 4.0L is around 7’s to 9’s for highway driving (longish uninterrupted trips) but easily 15 to 22L around town. If not careful on acceleration around town gets into the 20’s no worries at all.

I keep a GPS for trips and then record distance against litres when I fill up so I have a pretty good idea on what mine is doing.

Did you zero your trip computer before departure? And what fuel did you use? That’s not great for on the highway, I use 98 in my ‘99 4.7 and on that trip (we have a house up there so do it regularly) I get about 9.8-11 litres/100km. Normally around 10.5-11l, I can do the round trip Bris -Maryborough and return on a tank.

Yep reset it all, I was using 95, the computer was still coming down but very slowly and we stopped twice for Mrs.
Mines an 03 Limited, getting serviced every 6 months, was told last time that it needs new plugs this time.

i am normally around 14 litres per 100 on 33s and 6" lift on the freeway if i am behind another car it drops to 11 per 100.

offroad i normally get 18-22 depending on what type of driving.

My best run was from Cumberland junction to Warburton where i got around 2 litres per 100, gravity makes a difference

My old WJ couple of inches lift, 32's, 4.7 would get around 12 innthe highway and 17 or so around town. Was horrendous on sand, could nearly watch the gauge drop

There it is ! When I first got my Jeep 4.0L fuel economy was terrible. Until I changed the plugs ........ the old ones were horrid. I find they need to be gapped properly as well.
