There is some work involved but nothing huge. Just be patient. I changed my transmission with the front of the car on jackstands.
Gearbox has to come off, so it's mandatory to have the right e-torx sockets and a lot of extensions.
You also need to remove your starter.
Removing the transfer case makes the operation easier. For the top two bolts I cut a wrench in half to have enough room to rotate it.
I built a frame which fit nicely around the transmission oil pan and bolted that frame to an alligator jack, as I did not have a transmission jack.
Absolutely important: The gearbox and the torque converter have to be installed as one unit. Otherwise you risk damaging the oil pump gears on the transmission. You need to make sure the converter is properly seated in the transmission before installing it.
