'96 has a horrible-looking induction system, with the plastic airbox, and induction hole hidden behind a metal section.
This means air is drawn from within the hot engine bay.
I tested temps with a heatgun + thermocouple..outcome is once the vehicle gets moving over ~20kmph, the difference between outside and inside air was in the order of 10-20C.
Using the equation 10C = ~1HP, I decided "cold air" induction was not worthwhile.
The stock induction system is designed by good engineers, and offers better air filtration than pod filters (imo)
