Wow, autoblog are slow that's been out for ages. Also they miss the part about fixing the leak that creates the moisture. On the power lift tailgate version only one bolt is used for the lifter and not two like for the strut. They stick a plug in the hole for the bolt and water gets in there and runs down on top of the controller.

They replace the rubber plug with a bolt and all is good so not sure why the sheild as well. Mine is a June 2015 and already has the bolt but no shield and is not on the recall lost so not sure where they get the 2016 models from. As far as I was aware it was only open to about March this year. Interesting...

Hmm... just re read it all. The original recall was for vehicles up to March this year, this new recall is for Feb to September 2015 make vehicles. Looks like I have a recall coming!!
