Toby, I have heard that alot of SYE's can be noisy so are you sure that you are not hearing just that or a you feeling the vibes?
I am at 4.5" and have no vibes at all and just run a tranfercase drop that I made for it and 2 degree shims.

What caster are you running as it could be the front uni if you have not changed it since the lift? I came across this problem after someone had their suspension installed at the ARB factory and they had not even changed the caster after the lift
I was not referring to the slip joint causing the noise but that the SYE bearing setup regardless of the drive shaft can make it.

Never came across that one before as it should be impossible unless the shims are very thin. Try even going for a drive and re-checking to make sure it settles properbly.

Default JimmyB's 4.5" Lift

Hi,

Just a suggestion or two.... I had vibes at around 100Km/hr after first 1000km from new in my XJ, prior to lift etc.

Was a sloppy slip joint on the front D/S. Took some arguing with Jeep before they replaced it under warranty. Has been fine for the last 90K since.

I do get slight vibes since I had the front springs packed and reset the caster. With caster at factory spec just on point of vibes from mis-aligned front unijoint on front d/s. If I drop back to align for correct uni joint angle then no problems.
FSM says uni-joint alignment takes priority over caster specifications!!! Seems they know about vibes too.

Good Luck.

What do you mean dxj with the uni angles being more important than caster angles?
The caster angle is directly related to the caster angle and if you set the caster angle to stock then the uni angle will be stock too
What am I missing there.

BTW, have been talking with a guy in the US that couldn't solve bad vibes that he had even after setting the alignment like I said ( it improved it ) and it ended up being that the stock control arm bushes were already stuffed on his 2000 XJ  From 2000 they fitted really soft bushes to stop road vibes transferring to the body but they chop out quickly if you use them offroad.
