Recently at the Toyko Auto Show the Japanese company Tiger Auto showcased a special creation of theirs - a TJ pickup stretched to nearly the length of a Commander.
The boys at Tiger took a standard Jeep TJ, stretched the wheelbase 600mm (23.6 in) and then custom-fabricated the rear cab enclosure and the pickup bed. They documented the whole build in a series of photoessays on their website. (Look for the links labeled "Lung Ra" pickup.)
The result is a very well-finished neo-Scrambler whose overall length matches that of a new Commander. A modest 2" lift, custom convertible top, Recaros, and wheel/tire upgrade add the finishing touches. We're big fans of the old-school embossed Jeep logo on the tailgate, too.
Tiger Autos TJ
The most common vehicle recently to have this type of conversion was done by AEV in the states. The Brute is a highly mobile utility vehicle designed for extreme use; it’s also one of the most unique modern vehicles available. With less than 50 units per year scheduled to be built, the Brute is guaranteed to draw attention anywhere it goes. If you’re looking for the ultimate in utility and rugged aesthetics, the Brute is for you.
Originally designed for the 2002 SEMA Show, every aspect of the Brute conception focused around making a real world off-road truck that was fully reproducible and effective. As with all AEV designs, the vehicle’s great form came from the need to have great function.
