Gave mine a wheel alignment today as it changed when fitting a replacement steering box and my chassis reinforcement plates, oddly enough it is now pulling to the right where it never pulled right before, it always pulled left to the extent of requiring the fitment of offset balljoints to get it to drive straight which is odd.
Also replaced the leaking steering damper with a Rancho unit, the only issue is I can no longer get full left lock as the damper's compressed length is 10mm longer then the stock unit, correct part number for an Xj though which is weird....

Talking about steering dampers, I had an issue with my two week old one today. I bought an Ultima one off ebay. As it turns out the extra 10-12mm on the barrell diameter means that it hits the drag link. What I noticed today is it had pushed the damper out of the top taper bush mount. In the process it damaged the bush. I now have no damper on the XJ until the new one arrives from Online Auto Parts. Then I have to press out the bush and taper bolt and get it sleeved so that it lifts the barrell about 4-5mm off the drag link. Looks like I will have two weeks without a damper . Was going a RE one but the local engineer said he can redo the taper for $20.
Regards A

JJ- is the pulling to the right a result of a higher gas charge pressure in the new steering damper pushing the tie rod to the drivers side?

No it started pulling right once the steering box was changed a week or so back, the damper was only put in a couple of days ago, the damper stays where ever you leave it so I doubt it will be affecting it but it makes the steering nicer...
It has to be something to do with either this "new" steering box or it was an issue with the old one as I have had to put offset balljoints in to get it to run straight with the old box which also fixed the tyre wear issue now I don't know if I take the offset ball joints out and assuming it runs straight if the wear issue will return....

Don't buy cheap ass cutting discs.
I had 4 good cutting discs last week.
I started removing the Ford mounts from the 8.8 and got 1 spring pad and both the sway bar mounts off before running out of discs. The other day out of desperation, I bought 2 5 packs @ 2.95 per pack. So, 10 discs.
I used ALL 10 discs and still did NOT remove the last spring pad. I had to belt it off with a lump hammer and cold chisel. Plus a couple of the discs exploded when half worn...
Hmm,
cheers

I learned the hard way.
Had a elcheapo 9" disk fly to pieces & messed up 2 fingers. Spent a night in hospital having them put back together. The meds did a great job !!
