After a decent amount of time, trips, meetings, and planning, the long awaited date and venue for next year’s Jambo are set. Keep 30th September to 3rd October 2010 free for a trip to Lardner Park, Warragul, Victoria.
Lardner Park (www.lardnerpark.com.au) is the planned base for what we are planning to be the largest Jeep owner’s event ever held in Australia.
Lardner Park was home to the 1994 Jeep Jamboree (but things have changed a little since then) and is located about 10 minutes from the towns of Drouin and Warragul. Trips will be held in the surrounding areas including Neerim, Nilma, Noojee, and Bunyip, as well as areas a bit further away such as Baw Baw and Walhalla.
Those who follow the competition circuit may be aware that this is an area used by various winch challenge and other competitions that cover both public and private tracks that we should have good access to (we couldn't let you extrme guys down!).
This area of Victoria will offer trip options to satisfy every Jeep owner with minimal experience to expert and every type of Jeep model from stock, through to tourer, extreme, and everything in between.
Unlike other recent Jamborees that have been held from Friday to Monday, we are planning to start the event on Thursday, September 30th and finishing up on Sunday October 3rd. This is the last weekend of the school holidays for us here in Victoria (and QLD) and the middle weekend of the school holidays for NSW, ACT, SA, NT, and WA.
The idea of starting on Thursday is to give attendees a couple of days of mid-week (and therefore almost exclusive access) to the tracks in the chosen area, then having the weekend include (amongst many other trips of course) the base camp based activities like show’n’shine, motorkhana, trade alley, Jeep 101, test track, etc.
Chrysler Australia are very excited about the Jambo being held at such a fantastic venue, and in an area so close to Melbourne that it not only opens up some of Victoria’s great tracks to those from around the country, but also to locals who are able to come for the full event, the weekend, or even just a day.
More details will be available over coming months (see www.jeepjamboree.com.au) as the steering committee continue base arrangements, and as the event organising committee takes shape.
