Sketchup is very cool, just added a frame and suspension. Built it as a seperate object and then imported it. Next some Jerry can holders.

Cheers

Why the axle so far back? That will really give you a high ball weight and sag your rear suspension.
17 mm ply for the sides is not over kill, it is extreme!
6 mm would be over kill if you have a frame and 3 mm would be still plenty.
Are you going to run XJ leaves and not the horrible short trailer ones?

Just a couple more to whet the appetite. PM me for details on where to purchase doors and a Hurricane hinge for the hatch.

I'll try and find the pics I have for the "Road Toad" which has a similar shape to the one your working on.

The axle is a long way back as nearly all the weight is at the rear with kitchen and storage both behind the axle. I just went with the accepted norm for this style of trailer on the teardrop forums and using a calculator available it says my ball weight will be a around 14% of the trailer so about 80kg hopefully as I'm aiming for around 600kg or under finished weight (not including the wheels and tyres). Once I lay the sides out I'll probably move the axle forward a little, it all depends on the door position and tyre size.

Not sure on the springs yet, I have some XJ ones so may run those or see what else I can find.

Your right on the 17mm, I dont know where I got that from now, 6mm is looking much more like it. Originally I wasn't going to frame and insulate the walls so maybe that was how I came up with that.

Cheers
Steve

Seen the road toad and dutifully ripped it off.... Although it is a fair bit longer and sleeker. I'll be getting the hinges from Reiner at Aussieteardrops or whatever they're called in QLD I'm guessing that's the place you're thinking of too.

Cheers

Yep. - and Yep.

My Dewdrop is still stalled at the frame stage (only takes money) and just out of interest, I used some old Valiant springs I had laying about. Nice length and the rate looks good for the weight.

Nuther pic for ya...
