Default 4.7 1999 to 2004

Ive got a 2004 WJ with a broken timing chain, will a 1999 engine replace it?

It could, but itd be cheaper to replace the timing chain, and guides etc as a set. Unless its trashed.

Ok, well just bear in mind that the 99 and early 00 motors are the ones that can drop valve seats so you may want to be careful, but having said that I have a 99 and a 02 and the only time the 99 has played up was when she cooked after busting a water pump at 60+ on the highway with no hard shoulder to pull over on. Once fixed shes been great.

I thought any year 4.7 could drop a valve seat.
On another Jeep site there was a poll for dropped seats and lots of 02 built rigs in that list
