Removable Xj swing away tyre carrier

I got some moredone to the carrier today, I started with a number plate mount which is bolted to the swing arm, unfortunately it wasn't quite square but the main issue was it was too obscured by the tyre so that had to go.
Then I made up a mount to support the weight of the arm when in the closed position, I put some teflon strips on both the support and the arm so it is teflon on teflon when it is in the closed position, I also fitted some silicon bumpers to add some cushioning.

I am officially sick of working with steel at the moment so I decided to make a number plate mount out of perspex, I may decide to make a sheet metal one before we go but we have a chance to live with it for a few weeks before I decide if it needs to be redone or not, most likely will as it protudes a little further than I would have liked but at least it is fitted and includes a plug in light....

The number plate light is a LED unit and seems to be plenty bright enough to light up the whole plate so hopefully that will keep mr plod happy!!!!!

Nice work jj. I like the short design, less of an arc when opened.
